Someone once called Chris Austin’s songs “nightmare lullabies”… Its imagery that sits well with the band, themselves generally dysfunctional and often at odds with the world around them.
The band comes from the Medway towns and was started in 2011 by Chris Austin and Matt Bell who earlier in 2012 were joined by Stan Read on drums and David Hughes joining on guitar at the start of 2013.
As the band has found its feet Tape Error has increasingly become about home-made music.
All the music they make is recorded at home on basic equipment. They have made a series of music videos as an accompaniment which can be watched online. The songs themselves are lo-Fi and acoustic at heart, built up around the edges by vocal harmonies and drums recorded with only one microphone.

Preparations are developing for the forthcoming EP release from Tape Error. The Medway based band have emerged from the music scene that has created such talents as Billy Childish and Kid Harpoon, but with a lo-fi folk sound that is wholly unique.
